FERRARI 360 Modena Coupe comes to auction ...
Thursday, 15 February, 2018
Per l'amore della FerrariCentral Car Auctions proudly presents to auction this very fine Ferrari 360 Modena Coupe.
The Ferrari 360 Modena (the birthplace of Ferrari’s founder Enzo Ferrari) is no ordinary two-seater, mid-engined, rear wheel drive Italian sports car. It was the Ferrari model that saw the Scuderia’s Pininfarina sculptured body styling deviate away from the marques recent decade of slab sides and flip-up headlights. The new millenium revealed sculptured lines of both feminine beauty and masculine prowess. All aluminium space-frame chassis, increased stiffness, reduced body weight and mated to a 3.6 litre V8 pumping out some 395 of those Italian stallions, this evolved power-to-weight ratio saw the 360 Modena tipping the 180mph scales and catapulting its passengers, themselves swathed in handcrafted leather upholstery, to 60mph in a neck snapping 4+ seconds.
On it’s official press launch day, the media reported that the 360 Modena was “ludicrously quick and sounded more like Michael Schumacher’s weekend wheels than a street car”. High praise indeed.
This particular Ferrari 360 Modena is a 2001 model (’51 plate), sporting the classic 6-speed manual gate shift transmission and just 35,242 guaranteed miles on the odometer. With 15 service documents (the last service carried out by Ferrari specialist Gray Paul on 26th October 2017 @ 35,011 miles), V5, all MOT certificates and even the original factory build sheet, this vehicle is a fully authenticated example from Ferrari’s Maranello stable. MOT’d until October 2018, with two keys, the current owner also advises that this prancing horse was treated to only being unleashed on smooth salt free roads, on dry warm days. Pampered? Of course, it’s a Ferrari.
With innovative aerodynamic contours, enclosed front light cowls (with independent and retractable electric washers) and ground hugging rear diffuser, the timeless styling is cloaked in an exquisite light blue metallic and offset against Ferrari embossed aluminium coloured five-spoke alloy wheels. Discreetly hiding behind the 215/45/18 Bridgeston Potenza shod 18inch rims are Ferrari branded multi-pot race bred brake calipers, dustbin lid sized cross-drilled & vented discs and a suspension set up by Ferrari’s Fiorano test track engineers.
The interior is no less stylish than the exterior beauty with the pilot and passenger encased in handcrafted cream leather - electrically controlled - race style seats, with matching cream and black leather surrounding upholstery. Black fitted carpets add to the depth of luxury, with dashes of brushed aluminium on the transmission tunnel, gated gear shift and dash board reminding all who grace this 360 Modena Coupe of it’s Ferrari racing heritage and pedigree.
And to the real beating heart of this gladiatorial chariot - the handbuilt and powerful 395bhp, torquey 275 lbf-ft, 3586cc displacing, V8 power unit. Mated to a manual 6-speed gearbox and to the glory that is tuned length stainless steel exhaust manifolds. This is what the Ferrari tifosi live for.
Please enjoy the selection of interior and exterior photographs we herewith provide. Sadly, modern recording devices and internet connections still cannot do justice to the sound that this beautiful, twin red cam covered engine delivers ... for that joy you need to hear it for yourself.
